App State Wey Hall

The Wey Hall Renovation project transformed facilities for Appalachian State University’s Department of Art which offers 100+ courses to support degree programs in Art & Visual Culture, Art Education, Commercial Photography, Graphic Communication Management, Graphic Design and Studio Art. Work included a comprehensive renovation to the three story, masonry veneer, steel structure consisting of 54,098 SF which houses the Department of Art. The scope of work included a full modernization of the building upgrading or replacing, as required, the building’s electrical, mechanical, plumbing systems, fire alarm system, elevator, building envelope, IT infrastructure and adding a new sprinkler system. An addition was added to accommodate mechanical and electrical rooms that house new air handlers to serve each floor and a new freight elevator hoist way and stair for egress.

The project was completed in phases to accommodate campus operations.
