Safety & Quality Control Manager
Muter Construction is seeking a seasoned Safety & Quality Control Manager. This position leads the safety initiatives for the company, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality and efficiency across all projects. This position is responsible for overseeing third-party safety audits, implementing safety policies, and fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization. The Safety & Quality Control Manager also plays a critical role in quality control oversight and preconstruction constructability reviews to ensure safe and efficient project delivery. The position requires 5+ years of related experience in commercial construction, strong communication skills, understanding of construction processes and trades, and the ability to work closely with superintendents and trade partners throughout the entirety of the project. Experience with industry software documentation (Procore or similar) and MS Office 365 is preferred. Certifications include OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR (required), OSHA 500 (will train), OSHA 510 (will train). Duties include:
- Develop, implement and enforce company safety policies, programs and procedures.
- Schedule, conduct and track safety and task training.
- Oversee third-party safety partners, ensuring audits are performed accurately, consistently and in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Conduct safety meetings.
- Work with NC OSH Consultative Services Program.
- Collaborate with project teams to establish and maintain quality control standards.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure adherence to project specifications, codes and safety requirements.
- Participate in preconstruction planning and constructability reviews, paying close attention to identifying potential safety and quality risks.
- Work with project teams to develop Site-Specific Safety Plans.
- Work with project teams to develop and implement Subcontractor Project Safety & Incident Prevention Program.
- Advise Executive Leadership Team, project teams, and trade partners in the areas of safety and quality assurance.
- Promote a proactive safety culture by fostering open communication and accountability.
Preconstruction Estimators (Healthcare & Commercial)
Muter Construction is seeking Preconstruction Estimators to join our growing team. This position assists the Senior Preconstruction Manager and Chief Estimator in cost estimating, constructability review, execution of bid packages, bid day support and change order review for all project deliveries. The position requires 3-5 years of experience in commercial construction, strong communication skills, project organizational skills, knowledge of construction trades, and the ability to work closely with project managers, superintendents and end-users throughout the entirety of the project. Experience with industry software for estimating, take-off, project management (Procore or similar), and scheduling (MS Project) and MS Office 365 is preferred. Duties include:
- Work with the Senior Preconstruction Manager to develop cost estimates at the Schematic Design, Design Development and Construction Document phases of CMAR and Design-Build projects.
- Assist in subcontractor bidding strategy, solicitation and evaluation, ensuring the best, most cost-effective bids are obtained for each trade.
- Review project documents and building systems for cost-effectiveness, constructability and value engineering opportunities, providing innovative solutions to cost, lead-time, and trade-related challenges
- Participate in design and coordination meetings, schedule reviews and constructability reviews at each design stage, assisting the Project Manager with action/scope tracking and risk evaluation.
- Assist in the coordination of the subcontractor bidding process including RFIs and contract document preparation.
- Assist Project Managers with subcontract negotiations, buyout and change order pricing as needed.
- Work with the Chief Estimator in the preparation of single prime bid projects, assisting in project takeoff, subcontractor outreach, scope review and project setup.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, communicate with the design team and owner on any RFI related questions from subcontractors.
- Review specification documents and bid manuals to ensure proper bid documentation is available on bid day.
- Deliver bid documents on bid day, track all bid numbers during bid day and effectively communicate with the Chief Estimator and Director of Preconstruction on bid day results.
- Assist Chief Estimator on post bid evaluation and prepare documents for accounting and project management staff for turnover meetings.
- Assist in maintaining historical cost data and assist with management and updates to the Estimating Cost Database and related systems.
Healthcare Construction Superintendents
Muter Construction is seeking an experienced Healthcare Construction Superintendents to support the successful delivery of complex healthcare projects, including renovations within occupied acute care facilities. This role plays a critical part in bridging preconstruction planning and on-site execution, working closely with owners, architects, subcontractors and end-users to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule and to the highest quality standards. Candidates must have a minimum of five years of related experience in acute healthcare construction, ICRA (preferred), CHC (preferred) and OSHA 30. Candidates must have a strong understanding of MEP systems in a healthcare setting; an ability to collaborate and work with owners, architects, subcontractors and end-users; and have strong people management skills with an emphasis on communication and problem solving. Experience with Procore (preferred) and MS Office 365. Duties include:
- Assist with projects from preconstruction and manage throughout construction phase
- Perform constructability reviews as needed
- Perform project risk assessments
- Assist with key submittals as needed
- Assist with writing RFIs
- Assist with scheduling of subcontractors and inspections
- Assist with schedule updates
- Adhere to project schedules to ensure on time completion
- Complete daily logs and other required field reports with emphasis on details and completeness
- Manage all aspects of on-site healthcare construction with an emphasis on renovations including occupied acute care facilities
- Hold all required on-site meetings for productivity and safety standard
- Emphasis on high quality deliverables including client experience

Project Closeout Coordinator
Muter Construction is seeking a Project Closeout Coordinator to join our growing team. Candidates for this position are highly organized, detail-oriented and thrive in a fast-paced environment. This role exists to bring consistency, early ownership and clear accountability to closeout – from project kickoff through final release of retention. Candidates must have an ability to collaborate and work with owners, subcontractors and end-users; and have strong people management skills with an emphasis on effective communication. Experience with Procore (preferred) and MS Office 365. Duties include:
- Engage in project kickoff to identify all closeout deliverables required by the contract
- Establish project-specific closeout checklists and track deliverables
- Coordinate and track punch list completion across all trades, following up with subcontractors to ensure timely resolution of all outstanding items
- Collect as-built drawings, O&M manuals, warranties, commissioning reports, attic stock and final site documentation throughout the project
- Maintain closeout logs and status trackers acorss all active projects
- Coordinate owner training and system demonstrations with subcontractors and vendors
- Submit and track requests for Certificate of Occupancy, final inspections and sign-offs
- Assist with lien waiver collection and subcontractor final payment documentation
- Support multiple projects simultaneously at various stages of closeout.
