ECSU Currituck Hangar
The ECSU Hangar Facility at Currituck County Regional Airport will enhance the Aviation School’s curriculum by providing students with hands-on flight training under the supervision of university instructors. This new hangar will be built on newly developed land on the south side of the airport.
The facility will include two hangars and one educational/office building. In the northern part of the site, a standalone storage hangar will be situated, available for ECSU use and possibly leased for private aircraft storage. The southern portion will house the maintenance hangar and office spaces exclusively for ECSU students and faculty.
All three buildings will be pre-engineered metal structures (PEMB). The office area will feature offices for ECSU staff, a waiting/lounge area, restrooms, and briefing rooms for student and instructor use during pre- and post-flight sessions. The facility will have a secure airfield perimeter fence, separating the parking area from the airfield, with access-controlled doors ensuring security into the office building.
As the only four-year collegiate aviation education program in the State of North Carolina, ECSU offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Science and is certified by the FAA as a Part 141 Flight Training Program. Graduates will be well prepared to enter the workforce, where the median annual wages range from $54,000 to $83,000 (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). We are proud to partner with the talented design team at LS3P to deliver this landmark project for Elizabeth City State University and Northeastern North Carolina!
