Day Resource Center

Muter Construction provided general contracting services for the 12,800SF Day Resource Center in Fayetteville. Construction repurposed the facility from a music venue into a center dedicated to serving the needs of the homeless in Cumberland County. Originally conceptualized as part of the community’s 10-year plan to end homelessness, the Center officially opened in August 2023.

The $6.99-million project was completely grant funded through Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) via the North Carolina Office of Recovery and Resiliency (NCORR), American Rescue Plan Act and State Capital Infrastructure Grants.

The Day Resource Center will serve as a multi-disciplinary service center for people at-risk or currently experiencing homelessness. The Center is part of the Fayetteville City Council’s transformational and critical initiatives aimed at reducing poverty and homelessness. It will increase the capacity of disaster response in Fayetteville and Cumberland County and centralize service providers, removing barriers created by transportation challenges.

The Center includes shower and laundry facilities, community computer access areas as well as a warming kitchen and offices. Potential services include: daily lunch service; coordinated entry into the Homeless System of Services; preventative and simple medical services; and office space for social workers and case managers. The building features include the addition of floor-to-ceiling windows to the front of the building which allow expansive natural light, interior improvements; exterior site improvements and expanded parking.
