Town of Smithfield Baseball Venue
The Town of Smithfield is undertaking the design and construction of a new, state-of-the-art collegiate-level baseball stadium to serve as a centerpiece for community sports and entertainment. The project will be delivered through a design-build contract to streamline scheduling, ensure cost-effective delivery, and leverage the expertise of an integrated team.
The stadium will be located at 1500 Buffalo Road in Smithfield, NC (with alternative sites under consideration) and is designed to accommodate approximately 1,500 spectators. The facility will meet NCAA standards and serve Collegiate Summer League teams, while also supporting community gatherings, events, and recreational use.
Key Features and Amenities:
- Adequate public and staff parking.
- NCAA-compliant playing field with natural grass or synthetic turf, infield skin, pitcher’s mound, bullpens, and warning track.
- Irrigation system and field accessories (bases, pitching rubber, home plate, etc.).
- Covered spectator seating, including a premium seating section.
- Modern press box with media and broadcasting capabilities.
- Locker rooms for home and visiting teams.
- Concession stands, public restrooms, and retail/merchandise space.
- Administrative offices and storage facilities.
- Outdoor entry plazas and gathering spaces.
Phased Delivery

Phase 1 focuses on delivering a playable NCAA-compliant field and essential temporary amenities in time for the Tobs’ 2026 season.

Phase 2 delivers the permanent stadium amenities and infrastructure envisioned by the Town.
