Leadership

After more than 15 years as a high-level executive for one of the region’s largest construction firms, John Muter left the industry giants to found Muter Construction in 2012. While John enjoyed his years with the big construction companies, and found great reward in growing the work load of each, he was motivated to get back to the basics, and embrace the ideals that sometimes get lost along the way in larger construction firms. He wanted to really know each one of his employees, clients and projects personally. With a strong desire and the support of friends throughout the industry, John launched Muter Construction and has not looked back.

A key player in implementing the first CMAR legislation in North Carolina (SB914), John continues to consult on important issues facing the construction industry and the state of North Carolina. He has served as the Chairman of North Carolina’s State Building Commission and regularly speaks as an industry expert. He is widely regarded as a great problem solver and strategist and is passionate about family, friends and business.

Beth Muter joined Muter Construction as Chief Financial Officer in 2013 and was named majority owner and Chief Executive Officer in 2015. Beth brings more than 20 years of experience as a financial expert in the construction industry and that experience, combined with acute business knowledge, makes her an innovative leader to the Muter Construction team. Leading by example, Beth takes an aggressive approach to the cash management of the company and the financial, regulatory, safety and management demands placed on today’s construction firms. Sharing John’s work ethic and business philosophy, Beth has served on the Board of the Construction Financial Management Association and was a CFO Finalist of the Year in 2011.
