White Oak High School Renovation

Project Summary:
This bid package consists of the renovation of a 16,600sf science and foreign language classroom wing that was damaged in hurricane Florence. In its current condition, the building has received a new roof, damaged interior materials have been removed and hazardous material used in the original construction have been abated. New construction will include, among other items, resealing/reinsulating of existing HVAC ductwork, installation of emergency HVAC and plumbing updates in science classrooms, electrical updates, and installation of new finishes/casework/equipment throughout.

UNC Mary Ellen Jones – 6th Floor Rodriguez-Romaguera Lab Renovations

Project Summary:
This project is an interior renovation of business occupancy research lab support space on the 6th floor within an existing lab building. There are no changes to use or occupant load. Floor and Fire barrier penetrations have UL assemblies, the existing building is fully sprinklered. The architectural scope includes new partitions, doors and hardware, suspended acoustical ceilings, paints and coatings, resilient base and blackout curtains. The mechanical scope for this project includes providing new air valves, connections to the existing building controls system, and new ceiling devices to accommodate the room arrangement. New sprinklers will be provided to accommodate the new room arrangement, and new lab gas outlets will be provided in the open lab area. The electrical scope includes new light fixtures, connection to the animal lighting controls system, new card readers, new receptacles and telecom outlets, and modification of existing wall-mounted raceway.
Contractor is responsible for providing ground penetrating radar to avoid reinforcement and utilities in or under concrete slabs.
    Since the MEJ building Fire Alarm System is under warranty with JCI, JCI will need to be contracted to:
  • Program, test & label new duct detectors/RAILS.
  • Provide updated Fire Alarm drawings to reflect the changes.
  • Coordinate the damper/AHU unit testing with Schneider Electric (the BAS is under warranty as well).

The mechanical scope for this project includes providing new air valves, connections to the existing building controls system, accommodations for cage exhaust, and new ceiling devices to accommodate the room arrangement. New sprinklers will be provided to accommodate the new room arrangement, and existing lab gas outlets will remain in place, except where they conflict with the new wall. The electrical scope includes new light fixtures, a new connection to the animal lighting controls system, a new card reader, new power connections to the animal caging blowers, and modification of existing wall-mounted raceway.
